AEP uses Motribe to cover the presidential elections in the République de Côte d'Ivoire

The presidential elections this weekend in Côte d'Ivoire have sparked controversy with rumors that the country’s telecommunications regulator would ban SMS for the duration of the election period.

One day before the elections the African Election Project and Motribe decided to work together to launch a social network that would enable Ivorians to chat, share photos and find out more about the elections as they happened.

The AEP coverage of the elections focuses on social channels like Twitter and mobile channels like SMS. In the face of the SMS ban Motribe provides an alternative for mobile communications during the blackout.
