Cook with Adam at the Good Food & Wine Show!

It’s the cookery show that has kept thousands of South African viewers gripped to their television sets for the past four months and last night Adam Liaw was named winner of the hugely popular Australian Masterchef, screened on M-Net.

Adam will be showing what makes him such an exciting cook when he arrives in South Africa next month to take part in the Good Food & Wine Show, which runs in Johannesburg from September 22 to 25.

Says Adam about his win: “It was extraordinary. I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy! To all the viewers, the biggest thank you in the world. It’s a great feeling to know that there have been literally millions of people cheering me on.”

The title ensured Adam’s dream of ditching a career signing legal documents to one surrounded by food.

His Masterchef prize included publishing his own cookery book Two Asian Kitchens, which will be launched in South Africa at the Good Food & Wine Show, and a cash prize of R750 000.

Having started at university at the age of 16, he graduated five years later with a double degree in Science and Law.

While working in Japan as a media lawyer for the Walt Disney company, Adam decided to start a blog about food,

He also entered the Masterchef competition that was to change his life. Since walking away with the MasterChef title he has travelled on more than 120 flights, spent over 150 nights in hotels and covered more than 200 000 kilometres.

“They say that moving house, changing jobs and getting married are the three most stressful things you can do in life.

In the past year I’ve done two of those things (giving up law and moving from Japan to Australia), but for me it’s been far more wonderful than stressful.

I’m truly thankful to all of you for making this possible.”

He is thrilled about coming to South Africa to meet his fans and share his food philoshopy. He will be joining his fellow Masterchef contestant Alvin Quah who will also be appearing at the Good Food & Wine Show along with TV superchef Gordon Ramsay.
